SUNDAY

EOWYN --  From her hypnotic vocals, to her melodic lyrics, to her commanding stage presence, Eowyn is one Independent Artist you won't forget.  Though truly called an independent artist it is hard to see her as such with the amount of industry success she has already had. In the past year this artist makes it difficult for you to see her as anything but a proven national artist.   Eowyns radio success is just the beginning. She has had radio play in over 200 cities and has had two Top Twenty National Christian rock singles on the R&R charts. Her first single Take Me Away ranked at number 18 and her second single Hold Me went up to 15. With two full-length albums under belt and a third album in the works Eowyn continues to amaze her listeners with honest lyrics and hard hitting vocals. Nashville's Embassy Music took notice of this and awarded her Grand Prize winning songwriter for her song Break Free. She also caught the attention of some of the top producers in the industry including veterans Kevan Cyka (Lifehouse, R.E.M., Hillary Duff), Dan Needham (Stacie Orrico, Steven Curtis Chapman) and Matt Bronleewee (Plum, Joy Williams).   Eowyn sums it up best in her online journal when writing "I may be an independent artist, but I am not independent from God."

THE SONFLOWERZ (Independent) -- Dove-Award winning Producer Don Koch to produce New Album for Christian Duo The Sonflowerz - Popular Sister Act to Release New  Single in February 2008   NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 2007) –Dove Award-winning producer-songwriter Don Koch will produce the next album for The Sonflowerz, the popular Christian duo that was named the Best Over-All Vocal Group at last summer's GMA Music in the Rockies competition. During our travels in the U.S. andU.K., and we've come in contact with a lot of young people who are hurting," Becca said. "More than ever, people are searching to fill a void. We want the songs on this new record to point the way to Jesus."

MATT BROUWER (Black Shoe Records formerly with Reunion Records) -- Music Legend Michael Omartian to produce next cd Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Omartian has been tapped to produce the next CD for hit CCM recording artist Matt Brouwer, Nashville-based Indie Extreme has announced.   Brouwer will record his third studio album in Nashville in early 2008. The self-titled CD of original songs is set for release in May 2008 on the newly established Black Shoe Records.  http://www.myspace.com/mattbrouwermusic

Steven Curtis Chapman Induction to the Walk of Fame -- In his iconic musical career, Chapman has won five GRAMMY© Awards, most recently in 2005 for his release All Things New.  Chapman has sold over 10 million records including two RIAA certified platinum albums and seven RIAA certified gold albums.  Along with his Dove and GRAMMY © awards, Chapman has won an American Music Award, has recorded 44 No. 1 US radio hits as well as receiving numerous other honors.  Chapman has also been awarded 51 Dove Awards, more than any other artist to date.  Since his recording career began in 1987, Chapman has recorded sixteen projects with Sparrow Records.  He has performed at the White House and has appeared on: CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CMT, FOX News, Hallmark, E! as well as the CBS Sunday Morning, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, among many others.

On a personal note, in a response to the miracle they saw in their own family through adoption and with a desire to help eliminate the obstacle of finances for families they knew, Chapman and his family established the Shaohannah's Hope ministry in 2000.  In 2002, as opportunities to financially assist families ready to adopt far outpaced the Chapman's personal abilities to fund, the ministry began accepting donations to raise further financial grants for willing families. In 2003, Shaohannah's Hope became an official 501c3 non-profit organization.  Arriving at a milestone in October 2006, Shaohannah's Hope announced the 1,000th grant awarded. To date, they have impacted over 1600 families with grants and receive approximately 125 adoption assistance applications a month, and with current funding capacity awards 30-40 grants each month with an average amount of $3,000.

Chapman has become a voice for this cause, with fans, and strangers, and has mobilized hundreds of donors giving to the foundation, with a great need for thousands more.  His message has impacted others, and a web of influence has been created through the ministry. MONDAY

OMEGA --  Not only does this East African Diva burst on the world music scene with a unique name, but she also blazons into the industry with a fantastic new sound. Omega Bugembe Okello, who just goes by the name Omega, is blessed with a powerful vocal range and the international ability of singing in various languages and dialects. The songstress who hails from Uganda has been described as "having a voice that touches the soul," "bursting into song at birth," and having "a beautiful voice." If you listen to her music you will undoubtedly agree. She definitely has the kind of voice that pleasantly, but hauntingly seeps into one's soul and her upcoming album, Kiwomera Emmeeme, embodies this every essence.

At the tender age of four, she was enrolled into the internationally acclaimed African Children's Choir. Upon her return from touring with the ACC, Omega spent the next several years growing up in an orphanage, which her mother, who raised over 100 orphans, opened in Uganda. Surrounded by the suffering that characterized her country for the next 10 years of her life, Omega's experience in the orphanage became one of the strongest foundations of her work ethic and continues to motivate her to give back to her society through her music.

Omega's latest 2008 album Kiwomera Emmeeme, which in Luganda means "it is sweet to the soul," is an explosion of ethnic and western sounds.  She will be there interviewing about her African story and struggles and her upcoming album.

CALI -- Levity Record's R&B flavored pop artist Cali is working on the follow up album to her successful self-titled debut.  Overall, Cali in a unique place to relate to her peers and also impart her fair share of life experiences and artistic leanings that are well beyond her years. With success at RadioDisney.com, GAPkids, mycoke.com and others, everyone is VERY excited to hear her next musical venture.

Fans had the chance to check out her show for themselves this past Spring/Summer as Cali hit the road in support of her national debut project. Already she is earning a name for herself on tour, sharing the stage with Jump 5, SuperChik, & Jars of Clay, opening dates for the incredible Tonic Sol-fa and a headlining spot on last summer's Camplified Tour with fellow teen acts Kristy Frank, Scarlett's Web and 3D. The tour was sponsored by Fender, Sonic Bids and PopStar! Magazine.  The tour previously hosted the likes of Fefe Dobson (Island Records), Skye Sweetnam (Capitol Records), Nikki Flores (Epic Records), Katelyn Tarver (American Idol Juniors) and Rose Falcon (Columbia Records).

Cali will be talking all about her upcoming album.

ASHMONT HILL -- Axiom Records group Ashmont Hill is preparing to release their debut self-titled album on May 13, 2008.  Getting their name from "Ashmont Hill," an idyllic community near Boston, MA, the group of four (all related by blood or marriage) has made beautiful, spiritual music for years in Jubilee church - the church in which their father is Bishop.  Phil Thompson, Sisters April Joy Thompson and Deborah Bullock, along with Deborah's husband, Will Bullock heard the call from The Lord to bring their music to a larger community.

Touring this Spring with Natalie Grant, Ashmont Hill's upcoming self-titled album is a true collaborative effort between the band and their producer Sal Oliveri.    Oliveri and Calvin Nowell (who worked on the group's vocal arrangements) worked closely with the members of Ashmont Hill to create an inspired and inspirational album.

NATHAN WALTERS -- Hundreds of tiny lights pierce a dimly lit studio and rhythmically monitor the sounds that fill the air. While hiding away for hours in his home studio and meticulously, programming like a mad scientist, Nathan Walters takes the elements of rock, pop, and electronica to created a potent, earnest combination of styles that is as endearing as it is engaging. For some, this may be the first introduction to Nathan, but for others it's a chance to take a more personal glimpse into the life of this musical genius.

As a member of PLUS ONE he racked up five #1 Adult Contemporary radio singles, a RIAA Gold-certified record and a 2001 Dove award for "Best New Artist." Through tours with the likes of Jessica Simpson and Stacie Orrico, with his group, Nathan has travelled all over the world. PLUS ONE's success has also resulted in many different TV appearances for Nathan, including: "Days of Our Lives", "Touched By An Angel", "Live With Regis and Kelly" and "Nickelodeon's Slim Time Live", just to name a few.

Upon the release of PLUS ONE's final album, aptly titled EXODUS, the band had shed two of it's members and evolved into a more mature style and presence by being fully involved in the the writing, composing, and playing of their own songs. Billboard Magazine said that the group "successfully make the transition from buoyant popsters to impressive rockers". Now Nathan takes that transition one step further.

When explaining the origin of his music Walters recalls, "… as a kid my parents couldn't get me to stop playing the piano. Whether it was practicing classical music or attempting to write a pop song, I was at the piano 3-4 hours a hours a day....sometimes more." His determination was evident from the beginning. By the time he was 14, Nathan was writing songs and programming tracks on a keyboard he had saved up money to buy."

He was fortunate enough to collaborate with some of the world's most accomplished writers and producers in the industry. It was that experience throughout his music career that he believes has made him grow the most as an artist. "My production skills were greatly influenced and sharpened by the exposure to some of the renowned producers that PLUS ONE had worked with".  And what was the ultimate lesson?  "You have to weed through the good songs before you get the GREAT songs."

"I want to continue to write songs that will hopefully give people inspiration and a positive outlook in a world that at times could be full of sadness and disappointments,"  he says with his trademark humility. And that he does, with the upbeat pulsating synth sounds of "Makes Me Love You" and the atmospheric guitars of "Fall".  Most hopeful of the lot was Nathan's tribute to a young lady he met a month earlier.  "Romance You" was a collection of lyrics he would secretly compose during their long distant phone calls.  "After I demoed the song I flew to see her and meet her family," he gushes. "I played her the song.  She cried. She married me."  This time around Nathan shares music that is more intimate and personal. He is letting his fans "in".

Along with "You Are Here" receiving both mainstream and Christian radio airplay, and "Shine On" becoming a multi-format Christian radio hit, NEEDTOBREATHE'S music has been heard on the ABC show "The Evidence," the motion picture "Employee of the Month," MTV's "Laguna Beach," during the World Series, and most recently MTV shows "The Hills" and "Newport Harbor" picked up two of the band's songs for use in their shows while Fox TV is has used "Nothing Left to Lose" from for their Monday night promos for shows Prison Break and K-ville.

THE RUBYZ (ISHINE Records) -- Watch out Hannah Montana and The Jonas Brothers … enter The Rubyz!  Here to fill the industry age gap, The Rubyz will release their iShine record's self-titled debut on April 1. Though their sound can be compared to the fresh chart-topping teen discs like High School Musical or Hannah Montana, their lyrics are sure to be grasped by tweens and teens alike. Best said by themselves, The Rubyz are championing the cause of the everyday girl. "We're not Hannah Montana, sparkly or sequiny, we are normal," says Cammie Hall. "Girls are priceless … they need to think of themselves that way!" Whether it was taking dance, performing in their local school theater or playing bass, drums & even piano, The Rubyz are your average girls who are making music about everything from acting their age to friendship.

The band's freshman project was produced by Chris Omartian (Hilary Duff, Pink, Jump5) and Executive Producer Joy Williams who claims she is "passionate about the Rubyz, and how this music could encourage girls everywhere."

DEREK WEBB -  A former member of the Houston, Texas-based Caedmon's Call, singer/songwriter Derek Webb has seen career sales approaching 1 million records, 10 Dove Award nominations, a Billboard Music Video Award nod, and six #1 radio hits.  With his fourth solo project, titled The Ringing Bell (May 1, 2007, INO/Columbia Records), Webb continues to be one of Christian music's most prophetic voices, penning tunes regarding the Church and culture through personal stories and relationships. Recognized by both Christianity Today and Paste magazine as one of the best albums of 2007 (receiving the only 5 star review the Paste publication gave in 2007), The Ringing Bell, as the title suggests, is a collection that sounds clearly through the noise of the day, beckoning some, and warning others.  It's a call to meaningful conversations and it's a great time,  injecting songs into the cultural bloodstream that will move listeners to reflection and action while moving their feet.  "I do not do things in moderation," Webb admits.

"I think The Ringing Bell is a record about peace on the whole…be it literally, conceptually, personally, nationally, or even spiritually."  "I felt like there was more to say about the subject," he says.  "This is too important of a moment historically to not say more about the idea of peace.  It's right in my face at all times if I claim to be at all concerned with anything that Jesus ever said."

Fireflight (Flicker Records) -- Orlando-based rock band Fireflight's new No. 1 hit song "Unbreakable" has created tremendous momentum for its anticipated sophomore album Unbreakable releasing March 4.  In November 2007, "Unbreakable" was promptly selected by the NBC network as the anthemic soundtrack for the promo spots of primetime TV show "Bionic Woman." The spots aired during Nov. sweeps, and extended into the promotion of NBC's entire Wednesday night lineup.

Fireflight's music offers a haven for the accused and beaten down and an inspirational spark to trust and dream again. "Unbreakable," based on the classic gospel story of the adulteress set to be stoned, examines the woman's empowered mindset after the tables are turned on her accusers. The new album showcases exceptional musicianship to melodic and passionate vocals, while Fireflight creates sonic tension that seesaws between anger and remorse, strength and vulnerability, fear and faith.  Fronted by female vocalist Dawn Richardson, Fireflight's music has been featured on E!
